Paul Caunce the LoneRanger

Riders for Health were overjoyed when legendary Paul Caunce set up the evening with the Hairy Bikers & raised over £3,000. It was a wonderful evening as you can read here. We all ate VERY well thanks to Dave Myers & Si King, the most entertaining cooks I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

We'd like to wish Paul the very best of luck as the "lone ranger", December 27th, when he sets of as the only solo motorcyclist on the Plymouth to Banjul (Gambia) Challenge.
If you'd like to know more and to sponsor Paul, visit the site here.

Merry Christmas, Paul & what a way to bring in the New Year 2008 !

Che Guevara, TT sidecars & the best sirloin sandwiches

Last night I had the priviledge of having The Hairy Bikers cook for me & a small group of EnduroAfrica participants, friends & Riders for Health people.

I met such good people & got so much hands-on, real life advice for eventers from so many different walks of life and biking-experience-levels too. It was a great night put together by Paul Caunce, participant in both EnduroAfrica and part of the LWD event.

Kilimanjaro

AVIF is proud to be offering participants the chance to add an additional adventure to their experience ~ a discounted guided route to the summit of
Kilimanjaro with Mary Kariuki, a registered & certified, as well as
highly experienced mountaineer.

Mary runs StandOut Adventures
pictured below at the summit with a client, Simon. There are several
routes on offer, each a minimum of 5 days, Mary is vastly experienced
taking people from all over the world up to the highest point in
Africa, especially those needing acclimatisation.

Mary grew up
around Mount Kenya and later trained at the American National Outdoor
Leadership School (NOLS). This is a world recognized mountaineering
college specializing in all outdoor pursuits. The course covered all
aspects of mountain climbing and first aid.
Mary is rated the best female guide on both Mt. Kenya and Kilimanjaro.
Mary's team is very experienced, courteous and attentive though she organizes and conducts every expedition.

Please contact us should you wish to take on Kili before or after your KO2 challenge.

Update

Its looking very positive for KO2 to be launched as KO2 C.I.C. (as opposed to Ltd.), a Community Interest Company. We're under advise from the CIC Regulators, Business Link and Companies House to create a new social enterprise.

Social enterprises are dynamic businesses with a social purpose working all around the UK and internationally to deliver lasting social and environmental change.
[Click on the logo to learn more].

This is the only way we wish to go, ensuring our surpluses go straight
into AVIF's operations and therefore directly to those who need it
(minus some negligible Moneygram fees).

AVIF & KO2 make all funds transfers through Moneygram, renowned for their humanitarian work. MoneyGram recently made a five-year Ksh68 million commitment with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing around the globe. This has funded the construction of 10 homes in Kisii, Machakos and Embu through volunteer labour, donations of money and materials. [The Nation (Nairobi) 30 Oct 2007, Philip Wahome]

Moneygram offer extremely low rates to transfer money immediately via the UK Post Office.

KO2 are also invited to an evening with The Hairy Bikers, hosting Riders for Health. A donation has been made to the Riders work thanks to Emma K throwing herself out of a plane 15,000ft in the air !
Cheers again, Emma.

Now .. Yamaha or Suzuki ?
